Our Pastor
It's exciting to serve as pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. I accepted the call to St. Paul's in January 2003. Doing ministry in a small community has distinct advantages. Not the least of these is the opportunity to do "hands-on" ministry with the entire congregation. Random Lake is a village that has a long ecumenical tradition. The three churches in town are involved in cooperative events all year long - including the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in January, Lenten bible studies and evening services, the Crop Walk in September, a three-week Christian educational workshop in October, and an ecumenical Thanksgiving service at the high school. Besides our parish - and the Catholic and UCC churches in town, we also include UCC and United Methodist churches in the near vicinity. I serve as co-chair of our clergy association with Pastor Gail Mitchell of Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia. All of this makes for richer lives for everyone, as we become friends of one another and of God.
The proximity of the village to Milwaukee has many advantages. I'm a Milwaukee native, and my brother and sister live there. Random Lake is just 45 freeway minutes from downtown Milwaukee. That translates into summer Brewer games and one or two Marquette basketball games in the winter. It also means attendance at Milwaukee Symphony concerts is possible. On the other hand, western Sheboygan County is in the foothills of the Kettle Moraine. My labrador Murphy and I love to roam the geography of this beautiful area. There are countless opportunities for hiking and other recreational activities.
When you visit this part of south-eastern Wisconsin, make time on Sunday to share Word and Sacrament with our congregational family at St. Paul's.
