Education

An important component in the life of every congregation is the ministry of education. St. Paul's offers a variety of opportunities for children and adults. Everyone is encouraged to participate.

Sunday School

Sunday School is offered from early September (Rally Day) through May for all children, ages 3 through 8th grade. High School students are encouraged to attend the Bible study on Sunday morning. Sunday School classes generally begin between 10:15 and 10:30 and last until about 11:15. Roni Brock serves as Sunday School Superintendent.

Confirmation Class

Confirmation at St. Paul's is a two year component for seventh and eighth grade boys and girls beginning on September 12, 2007. Classes are held on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm from September through May. In 2008 we hope to again include a summer camp/tent-out experience for the class which may be scheduled for the last four days of July. The focus  in 2007/08 is Luther's Small Catechism, the Creeds and Worship Life in our Lutheran Church and other Christian churches. Separate arrangments for confirmation instruction can be made in consultation with the Pastor for older students or others with special needs. Confirmation occurs in the fall following two years of instruction and a summer camp experience. Confirmands are expected to have an interview with Pastor Dorau before Confirmation Sunday which reviews the two year experience. The Rite of Confirmation in 2008 is scheduled for September 28.

During the winter/spring, "Saturday Night at the Movies" is planned  every six weeks or so, and a service trip to the Random Lake Food Pantry is always planned. Fundraisers for the confirmation camp experience usually happen during the spring.

Teenage Ministry

The churches of the Random Lake Area cooperate in encouraging High School and Middle School students to participate in events together. Sponsoring churches include St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, St. John's UCC, New Horizons UCC, Zion United Methodist Church, and St. Martin's UCC.   St. Paul's Confirmation "Tent-Out" weekend at Camp Vista for 2008 is being re-scheduled for the last week in August.

Six St. Paul's teenagers attended the national youth  gathering in San Antonio during the summer of 2006. We are planning now for the 2009 gathering in New Orleans and hoping to find a coordinator from the congregation.

Adult Education

Adult Ed is held every Sunday between September and May from about 10:30 - 11:15, and at various times during the summer.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School at St. Paul's will be offered again over the summer of 2008 between August 11-15 in the early evening. Children and leaders are involved from the three Random Lake churches (Catholic, UCC and Lutheran.) Classes are held between 5:30 and 7:30 PM and included a light snack. Children from the age of 3 and up participate. Bible School generally includes lessons in living, Bible Stories, crafts, and music. All children in the community are invited.

Music

There are a variety of opportunities to be involved in the music programs of the church. Lorna Wulff is our Music Director and Organist. We welcome all to participation in the choirs. The music program is not like a self-cleaning oven that takes of itself. WE NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION.  Adults sing in the Senior Choir and children are encouraged to be part of the Alleluia Choir. Both groups are involved in Sunday worship and in special services during the Church Year.
